Literary Festivals in Spring 2015

Are you a dedicated writer or a ferocious reader? Literary Festivals can be a lot of fun where you can engage with the newest fiction and meet established or upcoming authors. We have compiled a list of UK and International Festivals for you to choose from this spring.

UK

LSE Space for Thought Literary Festival (23 Feb 2015)

LSE’s 7th Literary Festival will explore the foundations of knowledge, society, identity and literature, as well as those of LSE itself. ​

Bath Literature Festival (27 Feb 2015)

The Independent Bath Literature Festival is at the centre of local, national and international debate featuring some of the most intelligent, creative, and cutting edge thinkers around.

Huddersfield Literature Festival  (5 – 15 March 2015)

Since its incepti​on in 2006, the Huddersfield Literature Festival has provided innovative and high-profile events to showcase established and new emerging writers and performers, as well as offering the opportunity to attend workshops and masterclasses.

Bristol Women’s Literature Festival (14 – 15 March 2015)

Founded in 2013, the Bristol Women’s Literature Festival brings together the country’s best women writers, academics and feminist commentators to the Watershed for a weekend of thought-provoking discussion, debate and activity.

Cardiff Children’s Literature Festival (24 – 29 March 2015)

With over 50 events to choose from, book lovers from toddlers to teens will be inspired by some of the best local and national contemporary authors and illustrators in both English and Welsh.

Oxford Literary Festival (21 – 29 March 2015)

The Sunday Times Oxford Literary Festival is an annual literary festival where visitors can meet and listen to authors and experts from a wide range of fields. Hosted by the Christ Church College a​nd its lovely Tudor cloisters and hall, the Festival consists of hundreds of events which are led by writers, authors, thinkers and experts from all over the world. With each festival, the number of events and speakers grows and recent festivals have featured authors from more than 20 countries.

York Literature Festival (19 – 29 March , 2015)

York Literature Festival began in 2007, and has grown  steadily since then. Each year the festival features a range of diverse events for adults and children at venues all over the city. The programme includes author and speaker events, performances, workshops, poetry, theatre, cinema, reading groups, and relevant literature-related artisti​​c activity.

Cambridge Literary Festival (15 – 19 April 2015)

It aims to provide a richly packed weekend of some of the best in contemporary fiction, political debate, workshops and events for children. It is a festival for writers as well as readers.

Chipping Norton Literary Festival (23 – 26 April 2015)

More than fifty authors, publishers, booksellers and literary agents will be booked to entertain, inform and celebrate the written word. With book swaps, reading corners, workshops and discussion forums.

Stratford Upon Avon Literary Festival  (25 April to 3 May 2015)

The Stratford Literary Festival is the highlight of the regional calendar and one of the most significant literary festivals in the UK, attracting thousands of people who share one passion: a love of books, writing and reading.

Swindon Festival of Literature  (4 – 6 May 2015)

Comprises talks, readings, and question and answer sessions with authors, performers, and poets; plus writing workshops, discussions, storytelling, and a ‘Performance Poetry Slam Competition’.

The Boswell Festival (8 – 10 May 2015)

The Boswell Book Festival is intended to honour the life of one of Scotland’s greatest literary lights, James Boswell. People’s life stories past and present are at the heart of the Festival, just as people’s stories were at the heart of Boswell’s writing.

Hay Festival (21 – 31 May 2015)

For 25 years Hay Festival has brought together writers from around the world to debate and share stories at its festival in the staggering beauty of the Welsh Borders. Hay celebrates great writing from poets and scientists, lyricists and comedians, novelists and environmentalists, and the power of great ideas to transform our way of thinking.
